I Don’t Speak Korean

This is worth pointing out because I live in Korea now, and today we were doing what people do here on a Sunday afternoon: eating.

We went out to lunch with family. We ate too much, talked, laughed, and sat around the table longer than we needed to. Nobody was in a hurry. It was just a good afternoon with people we like.

So naturally, after eating, we went somewhere else...

...to eat. Bread this time. And coffee.

...and tea.

Because apparently lunch is not the end of eating. Lunch is just the thing you do before you go somewhere nicer and have bread and coffee.

...and tea.

We sat there for a while, drinking our drinks, tearing apart bread, talking about nothing important, and enjoying being out in town in Korea on a Sunday afternoon.

I still don't speak Korean.

I also don't speak German.

I’m not sure why that second fact matters.

But somehow it does.

It’s what you do when you’re hanging out in Korea.

And you don’t sprechen ze Deutsch.
